After School Clubs and Organizations
There are many student clubs and groups at Clinton Rosette Middle School (CRMS). Permission forms are available in the main office or from the club sponsor. Some clubs have a small fee. Contact the club sponsor if you need help paying the fee.

Most clubs meet after school until 3:45 p.m. If a student who normally rides the bus stays for a meeting, they can take the activity bus home. It leaves CRMS at about 4:10 p.m.
Academics and Competitions
- Science Fair is required for 8th graders as part of science class. Participation is optional for 6th and 7th grade students.
- Scholastic Bowl is a team activity similar to the game show Jeopardy, where student teams compete to answer questions about academics and popular culture.
- Spelling Bee is a spelling competition open to all students. Qualifying students proceed to school, district and county competitions.
- Study Club provides a quiet environment for students to complete assignments, use a computer and otherwise keep up with their classes.
Perspectives and Mentoring
- Changing How I Can Achieve Success (CHICAS) provides students with support from positive role models and diverse perspectives on the past and future of the Latino community and academic success.
- T.E.L.O.S. is a network of students, staff and NIU students who are members of Supporting Opportunities for Latinos (S.O.L.). Participants learn to prioritize goals, make decisions, and feel more independent and confident.
Service and Leadership
- Green Club is for students interested in helping the environment by exploring and participating in activities on topics like recycling, alternative energy and organic food.
- Student Council gives students the chance to have a leadership voice in our school and helps them build communication, leadership and other skills through service to the school and community.
- The Empowerment Club is a new club formed to create ways in which the school can recognize and empower the diverse members of our student body. The club welcomes and invites all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to take part as members. Club members will come up with ideas that will focus on cultural, historical, and/or celebratory months such as Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Arab American Heritage Month, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, as well as others.
Art, Drama and Media
- Art Club gives students the opportunity to try out new artistic skills and techniques.
- Yearbook Club members create the CRMS yearbook, including formatting pages/sections and taking photographs.
Sports and Recreation
- Intramurals is a sports program for 6th graders with activities like bowling, soccer, kickball and dodgeball. A sports physical is not needed.
